Measure 6 inches (15 cm) below mid-patella for brace size selection and 6 inches (15 cm) above to verify it is within the fitting range. Release SmartDosing dial and pull DFS straps fully out, so that the 0-10 settings on the Smart Adjustment clip are fully visible. Before slipping the brace on the leg, rotate it 180 degrees for easier application over the ankle. Before pulling brace up over knee, rotate it back to normal position. Place hands on hinge and proximal edge and gently pull brace over knee Do not pull on sleeve fabric or the SmartDosing dial With the knee slightly bent, align the brace on patient’s leg with patella centered within kneecap mark. Begin by tightening the calf strap above widest part of calf muscle.

Ensure brace does not rotate on leg while tightening. If needed, detach alligator clip, adjust strap to ideal length and reattach clip. Press SmartDosing dial and rotate clockwise until Strap Adjustment Clip is at the 0 mark. With patient in standing position, adjust the length of both DFS straps. Before cutting the straps to length, open the alligator clips, approximate the appropriate length, fold and secure by closing the alligator clip. Appropriate length is a snug fit without tension. Push the SmartDosing dial down and tighten DFS straps by rotating the dial clockwise, with patient in standing position and knee slightly bent. A correct DFS strap length will contribute to the right amount of unloading with SmartDosing setting around 5.

This will allow the user to add or reduce tension as needed during daily use. With patient standing, check the appropriate tightness of the DFS straps. There should be equal tightness on both DFS straps.

Have the patient walk around with the brace to verify positioning of brace and tightness of straps. If needed, re-adjust the length of relevant straps. Make sure to adjust both DFS straps equally. Remove alligator clips and cut all straps to appropriate length. Put alligator clips back on. The brace can be machine washed using the supplied wash bag or hand washed. Please follow the washing instructions provided.
