The Hardest Part of Treating Ovarian Cancer | Cedars-Sinai
Trying to define the hardest part of this job is actually a really tough question. I love what I do. I feel that it's a privilege to have had these opportunities and I really am the ultimate optimist. I believe we can find a silver lining in every cloud and make lemonade out of lemons. I try to learn something from every part of what I do, but in reality I'm human as well. And I think the toughest part is when, despite all of our efforts, all of our science, and pulling out all stops, we can't succeed.. And things don't go as we would have liked. Sitting there with women, with their families holding their hands, giving bad news.
Holding their hands as they sometimes even take their last breath. Hugging, crying, supporting families when they need to say goodbye and find a way to move on. There are some really tough days but I'm always rewarded and sobered by the lessons from the incredibly courageous and inspirational women who I've come to know. That I still carry with me and that I hope make me a better person.
