Teen Almost Dies Taking Just One Pill

We've talked on the show before, often about how trying drugs one time can be life-threatening. I want you all to look at this photo. It's a 16-year-old, her name is Amy. A couple months ago, Amy innocently took just one crystallized MDMA pill at a house party, immediately passed out, spent two weeks in a coma. MDMA, for those of you that don't know, that's the scientific name for the drug ectasy, and this is a video actually that Amy posted on Facebook after she woke up from her coma. (audience groans) And so, a lot obviously went wrong. She ended up suffering a traumatic brain injury.

Honestly, I know watching that video, I know she's making progress. It's so hard to watch. But I don't know that she'll ever have a full recovery. That's a devastating injury.

But what scares me is this idea that, I maybe shouldn't have even said it. I said MDMA, the truth is, I've said it so many times on the show. Really, there all these unregulated synthetic drugs out there. There's this one called flaca which is like bath salts. It's actually active ingredient Alpha PVP is illegally controlled substance, yet you can still go online and order it. And my guess is a lot of these pills that teens are taking, they're probably some hodge podge mixture of a punch of different synthetic cheap chemicals, and that's why we're seeing more and more of this.
