Severe Neck Pain Treated with Big Neck Cracks at Back Pain Relief Center Vineland Chiropractor
Hey guys, it's Dr Ray Marquez here at Back Pain Relief Center. We're with the very beautiful Erica, and she is having a hard time today with her neck. She woke up this morning with it. Try to look over your right shoulder. She can't look over her right shoulder so that's a stiff neck or torticollis. Very painful, so look to your left. She can look over the other side pretty well.
When I touch her here, right on her muscles, it just feels like a rock. This is tight, this isn't normal, it can't be, So a lot of times these things happen because of misalignment in the cervical vertibrae some pressure on the nerves... As a chiropractor, what I'm going to do is manually loosen this stuff up for her. And try to get better range of motion. That may not say 100% you're going to feel 100% no pain, but maybe we can get you to move a little better. Some of it may just be a little hard for you, but we'll do our best to get you through it. First thing we're going to do is to put some pressure on that big muscle knot.
I want you to look down to your chest and up for me. Just the best you can and then come back up. What I'm doing is I'm putting pressure on this trigger point here which is really bad and we're trying to put her through a range of motions' to try and get that trigger point to unlock.
Just rotate and come back to the center. You ok with that pain?I know it hurts a little bit. Let's try the bad side. So a lot of you may get this, people wake up with it a lot of times and have a stiff neck and they've got to move their whole body to move.
I don't think it's degenerative process or big new condition, I think people just get it maybe just from sleeping the wrong way or just stress. I don't think Erica has a new condition, I just think that it's spasms on her. So this will be again a little tender ok, so we're going to do some more trigger point therapy. It's going to be tender, let me know if I'm too hard on you. You're ready for the bad side? Just do the best you can. Erica is one of our patients that we're helping manage her neck and chronic neck and back pain.
She also sees the medical doctors that we refer her to that I think in conjunction with her chiropractic care and some appropriate medication is helping her manage the pain. Now we're going to go through with some more stretching. These stretches that I'm doing now are very much like the stretches we do when we do manipulation under anesthesia.
For patients with chronic neck and back pain. So next we're going to do a spinal manipulation just to try to decompress the joint further. When you hear that popping, like Joy, who's filming this is laughing, is just decompressing of the joint. - Did that hurt? - No. - Even with your neck being painful when you first came in? - No. Easy peasy.
- That wasn't too bad, right? Laughs The next thing I'm going to do is use a couple of instruments on her and I want to loosen up her upper thoracic. Because really that comes all the way down to here and obviously connected to your thoracic and all that tightness and taut and disfunctional joint can contribute to what she's experiencing today. Look over that shoulder, and we're going to look over the other one. So we have better range of motion, look that doesn't mean that it still doesn't hurt, because you injured the nerves and the muscles.
It's going to take some time to feel better, but if we can get the range of motion better... It feels better, right? It's still going to be tender so you know, we may have to talk to her medical doctor also and make sure he gets her the right medication. My goal as a chiropractor though, is to increase that function, get it to move better and it will feel better. Alright guys, thanks for watching.
