Oral pathology refers to diseases that can develop inside your mouth, salivary glands, or jaws. Although the majority of oral pathologies are benign, it is always important to get proper evaluation and treatment of any oral lesion by an expert. Improper or delayed diagnosis can lead to severe complications or the need for more extensive surgical procedures. Some examples of oral pathological processes include oral lesions, such as white or red lesions, mouth ulcers, salivary gland tumors or stones, oral dysplasias and oral cancers, and jaw tumors and cysts.

If you notice a lesion or soreness in the mouth or jaws that does not improve within a week or rapidly worsens, it’s always important to have an expert evaluation. Many oral pathologies are not necessarily painful, but that does not mean it’s not serious. As oral and maxillofacial surgeons, we are experts in the evaluation and treatment of oral pathology. During your initial consultation, we will complete a full review of your health history, a clinical exam, and review any necessary radiographs. In addition, we have an in-office 3d scanner to better image boning lesions and pathologies if necessary. In some cases, a biopsy will be recommended. We will fully discuss our recommendations and personalize a treatment plan for the restoration of your oral health.
