Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: Internet-based treatment

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is one of the most disabling mental health disorders affecting roughly half a million Australians. Sufferers are trapped in either obsessive thoughts or rituals that they know are illogical but feel powerless to stop. Yet only 40% of individuals with OCD receive treatments that actually work. So my job is to bridge this gap, but I need your help to do it. Since last year, I've been working on a program that individuals can access from almost anywhere with the help of a computer. It's an internet-based initiative where individuals can access a series of online training sessions known as cognitive bias modification. How it works? Well, it targets negative biases by assisting individuals to interpret their intrusive thoughts in a more realistic and positive way. The internet is a great medium to do this.

Many individuals with OCD live in rural areas where it might not be possible to see a practitioner and some individuals may be too embarrassed to seek outside help. But there's just one problem. Researchers like myself rely on grants and financial contributions to support initiatives like this. I would love to be able to turn this negative into a positive, but I need your help to do it.
