Meet Marty Meyer, MD; Gastroenterologist at Ohio State

Author: Ohio State Wexner Medical Center

Hi, I'm Dr. Marty Meyer and I'm a gastroenterologist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. My interest in medicine started with my interest in just helping people. I think that that's why we all are put on Earth is to help others and I think the combination of science and helping people really piqued my interest into joining a medical practice. The reason I started becoming interested in gastroenterology was to help a wide range of patients. Not only am I able to help young people with very active and severe Crohn's disease, but I'm also able to help middle-age patients that may have a colon polyp or an undiagnosed GI condition. For example, I might meet someone that has symptomatic Crohn's disease and two hours later, cut out a large polyp that may become a cancer.

The patient may not have even known about it. What's most rewarding about my job is that I'm able to not only help people, but I can also teach the next generation of doctors.
