How To Keep Your Heart Healthy With Essential Nutrient For Heart Health

By: Natural Health

Essential nutrients for heart health. According to the World Health Organization, the number one cause of death in the world are cardiovascular diseases. Many times we take our cardiovascular health for granted and think that it is something that only older people should worry about. While it is true that the heart ages and becomes less efficient as the years increase, it is also true that we can take steps to reduce the risk of developing heart disease. What nutrients are good for heart health. Omega-3 Fatty Acids: The American Heart Association says that omega-3 fatty acids lower triglyceride levels, reduce atherosclerotic plaque growth, and slightly lower high blood pressure. In particular the Association recommends eating fish twice a week as the best way to get Omega-3 fatty acids. The fish recommended for their low levels of mercury are salmon, shrimp, low fat canned tuna and catfish (also known as catfish).

Vitamin D: Although there are no conclusive results, recent studies believe that vitamin D could benefit heart health since the heart contains numerous vitamin D receptors. Vitamin D can be received by sunning itself as the body converts sunlight into vitamin D. People who are worried about exposing themselves to sunlight can take some vitamin D3 supplementation, which is the best way to absorb the body. For the recommended dose, consult your doctor. Coenzyme Q10: Lately we are hearing more and more about the benefits of coenzyme Q10, an antioxidant that strengthens cardiovascular health and heart functions.

The body produces this coenzyme, however, over the years, the body's ability to produce coenzyme Q10 decreases. Sources of Q10 are organ meats such as liver or fish such as trout and salmon. Oranges and broccoli also contain this nutrient although in smaller quantity. Vitamins A, C and E: These three vitamins are powerful antioxidants that promote cardiovascular health. It is recommended to include fruits, vegetables and whole grains in our daily diet to obtain these much needed nutrients.

Resveratrol: It is a popular belief that red wine promotes cardiovascular health. And it is true! Red wine contains resveratrol, a nutrient that promotes good blood circulation. Fortunately for those who do not drink wine, its content in resveratrol comes from the grapes! So either taking grape juice or consuming these delicious strawberries can benefit the health of our heart.
