Erica's Brain Drain part 16-After surgery Day One (VP shunt placement)

Author: The Fruitcake Conglomerate

Hey guys. Everything is all said and done obviously. It went fast. I am leaking fluid from one of my ears. But, but. I do know that I have a hole in my ear from when I had tubes put in there. I don't know if that has something to do with it. My head doesn't hurt.

The incision site does not hurt at all. Actually what hurts is the incision site from my stomach. From where they went through to grab the tube.

That hurts more than anything right now. Last time I talked to you guys I hadn't talk to my general surgeon or my neurosurgeon but they both came in. The general surgeon told me you can sometimes feel the tube under your skin.

I can't actually physically feel it but right now it hurts for sure. I am leaking fluid from my ear though so They are gonna let my neurosurgeon know. I was taken back, I was in the room for a little bit answering questions and stuff like that and then I was just out. I don't even remember it happening. I don't even remember them giving me anything is the funny part.

They braided my hair. I feel like I look like Snoop Dogg right now. But I'm doing okay. I can tell you what's annoying right now is those compressors I was telling you about where they put them on your leg and it's kind of like when the take your blood pressure. Those are alternating on and off. All the time. Like they are just doing it all the time. So that's for sure annoying.

But I'm okay. I think the part that was frustrating for me was I was waking up right as they were finishing everything. And I still had like I think-I think I still- I either had the tube in my throat or my throat was so sore I couldn't talk. But I was just crying and pointing to the incision site on my stomach because it hurt so bad. But they did give me more. And then afterwards they take you to go get another CT scan. So I did that too. That was a little rough because you have to kinda- they do pick up the bed sheet and help you move But you have to roll over on your side and it did not feel good.

They told me they gave me Benedryl so I don't know if I was coughing or what was going on. So I guess now we're just waiting to find out what's the deal with my ear. And why it is leaking and all that fun stuff. They told us that- two days in the ICU, is that what they said? Two days in the ICU. He said he always puts patients in the ICU. Because it is still brain surgery. So just to be cautious I'm feeling tired. I'm probably gonna take a nap.

I'll keep you posted though.
