Check out 5 Diet Tips For Hypothyroidism
Hello. Today we are going to discuss on hypothyroidism. Do you know what is hypothyroidism? hypothyroidism is a condition where the thyroid gland does not create enough thyroid hormones. Thyroid hormone regulates the way in which the body uses energy metabolism and without enough of this hormone the body's function slows down.
Hypothyroidism can cause a number of health problems like joint pain, obesity, heart disease, etc. With appropriate medicines and exercise, here are some five important diet tips to be followed in case of hypothyroidism. Firstly, some foods can interfere with the functioning of thyroid gland especially raw vegetables like cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, reddish as it contains goitrogens.
Also avoid aspartame which is present in sugar powder or sugar free tablets or artificial sweeteners as it can cause inflammation of thyroid glands. Secondly, some foods may interact with thyroid medicine. For example avoid soybean and coffee as it affects absorption of thyroid hormone. Also avoid calcium and iron supplements. At least keep a gap of 3-4 hours. Thirdly, include whole grain products and protein rich foods in your diet as all our body's glands and hormones are made up of proteins.
Fourthly, along with iodine rich foods, include tyrosine rich foods in your diet like meat, fish, low fat milk and yogurt, almonds, sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds. Lastly, include selenium rich foods in your diet like garlic, onions, chicken, meat as body requires selenium to enhance the metabolism. I hope these five tips would be useful for you. Thank you.
